Ulysses in 80 Chapter 3

If you happen to be participating in the read Ulysses in 80 days project and you are on schedule, you read chapter 3 and the world changed. What happened to the characters in the first two chapters? And is there actually a plot or character development?

My recommendation:

Pause every now and then to admire a short section but don't stress about understanding. I enjoyed this bit about books with letters for titles.
