Junk Journal Week 29

Watched quite a few movies this week. Most of them were DVDs from the public library.

The mole agent is the original movie from Chile that was remade into the American Netflix series The Man Inside. The Souvenir and Ad Astra are both great examples of slow cinema. Airplane! is silly fun. And La La Land is a very colorful and vivacious musical.

I do not know how many people still read Wallace Stegner. He is something of a writer’s writer who directed the Stanford creative writing program for many years; his students included: Edward Abey, Wendell Berry, Raymond Carver, Ken Kesey, and Thomas McGuane. Crossing to Safety is a story of two marrried couples and their friendship from the depression until about 1970.

I enjoyed Stephen King’s Everything’s Eventual. It has 14 stories that are very plot driven. One of the stories was published in the New Yorker magazine.
