Junk Journal Week Ten
My theme in the 100 days of creativity challenge has been the bookworm. This one is a collage made from a tomato can label.
I bought two audiobooks this week that I expect to read in the not too distant future. They are both short story collections and one of my reading goals for the year is to read a short story collection about once a week. My other goals are middle grade novels, graphic novels, story graph's read ten countries, and documenting my reading in some fashion on my blog and Instagram.
As far as the books I read, let me say a few words.
Translation State is a science fiction novel about very unusual aliens. This book was my February selection from the Politics and Prose bookstore's individualized book of the month club. I read most of the book on the bus when I visited an exhibit on Byzantine art at New York's Met museum with Stockton University's Greek and Latin students.
Full Throttle is a collection of kinetic stories by Joe Hill. I enjoyed most of them in audiobook format while cooking or doing household jobs.
Toni Morrison's Beloved is a masterpiece about love, memory, and the effects of slavery on one family in late ninteenth century southern Ohio. I read this one slowly to enjoy the frequently poetic language.
Ryan North's Star Trek: Lower Decks is an entertaining and somewhat silly story about a vampire that I enjoyed more than I thought I would. I wholeheartedly recommend the streaming show on Paramount plus.
