Mail Truck Collage
Yesterday I opened my box at the Oceanville NJ post office and found two letters. One was from a friend I have exchanged approximately ten letters with who lives in Lincoln IL. The other was a set of artist trading cards from @k_andthe_postcards in Savoy IL. Looking at an online map, I see that if I travel 70 miles east from Lincoln I would be in Savoy.
So, my project today is based on the experience of opening my mailbox and finding two things worth looking at or reading. I did a brief search of images using terms like post office and children’s art and decided that a mail truck was something that both reminded me of opening my mailbox and was a project I was capable of completing in a reasonable period of time.
A word or two about the mail truck. In the United States, the majority of mail residential mail is delivered by Grumman Long Life Vehicles. The chassis is made by General Motors and is based on the CHevrolet S-10. The body is aluminum and made by Grumman. These trucks have been used since 1986 and plans are underway to replace them.
