I enjoyed Ripley on Netflix. To get maximum enjoyment out of the miniseries, I recommend you learn something about the life and work of Caravaggio. 

The Netflix miniseries encouraged me to explore the film noir series currently on the Criterion Channel.

I enjoyed all of the things I read this week, but if I were to highlight one book it would be the Joy Williams collection. Both dogs and humans do a fair amount of suffering in these stories, but, at least in my opinion, there is also a great deal of dark wit.
