Cozy Storytime: Bad Bear Detectives by Daniel Pinkwater

Today’s cozy read‑aloud is Bad Bear Detectives — a warm, funny Pinkwater mystery about two bear friends who take their detective work very seriously. Pinkwater’s stories always feel like they’re written for the child who loves to observe, investigate, and imagine possibilities.

Before recording, I spent a few minutes making an index‑card art project inspired by the book’s expressive bears and soft, cozy palette. This small ritual helps me notice the visual language of the story and enter the illustrator’s world with intention.

This book is wonderful for:

• Social‑emotional learning — cooperation, perseverance, flexible thinking

• Early literacy — prediction, sequencing, narrative logic

• Visual literacy — character expression, visual clues, cozy settings

• Classroom and library read‑alouds — mystery units, teamwork themes

• Cozy storytime moments — gentle humor, warm characters, soft suspense

🎥 Watch the full cozy read‑aloud and enjoy this warm, curious Pinkwater adventure.
