Day 98: Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein
It is Little Chicken’s bedtime, but he asks his Pappa to read him a bedtime story first. As can be expected, Little Chicken keeps interrupting the story. This happens with four different stories. After this set of events, Papa says he is tired and asks Little Chicken to read him a story. Little Chicken writes and reads a short story, but Papa is asleep before the end.
This story is a simple yet delightful story; and the art is quite wonderful. Obviously, the book works better as a read aloud to an audience ready to embrace the silliness of the experience.
There is one thing not in the book worth mentioning. It is a good thing when a young listener interrupts and interacts with the story or characters.
I first read this book to my kids in 2010. Hardcover. 40 pgs.
