Day 96 Beautiful Yetta

Back in 2010 I bought Daniel Pinkwater’s Beautiful Yetta, illustrated by his now late wife Jill Pinkwater. This is a delightful picture book that tells the story of the Yiddish speaking chicken, Yetta. While going from Mr. Flegleman’s organic ranch to the market in Brooklyn, Yetta escapes through a loose lid in her crate. While wandering lost through Brooklyn, Yetta scares a cat away from Eduardo, a Spanish speaking parrot. The other parrots in the flock see this act of kindness and invite Yetta to be their friend.

My son, 10 at the time, liked the book so much he made his own figures of the three main characters.
