Remembering Some Favorite Books I Read in 2020
For me, the spring of 2020 introduced the lockdown and online school for my wife and children. I spent my days reading on the kindle while simultaneously listening to the audiobook and walking around the yard — I believed it was dangerous to be near other people even outdoors. I spent my evenings watching Criterion movies. I enjoyed much of my time but came to desire face-to-face conversations.
Reviewing my BOB (book of books) here are some of my favorite reads from 2020:
- Borges and Me by Jay Parini
- Skippy Dies by Paul Murray
- Yellow Bird by Sierra Crane Murdoch
- How To Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu
- The Lightness by Emily Temple
- Negroland by Margo Jefferson
- Pure Invention by Matt Alt
- Solitary by Albert Woodfox
What books did you read in 2020? Do you keep a BOB? I would love to hear from you in the comments.
