Recent Reading: Dead End in Norvelt

There are definitely some things in Jack Gantos book about one boy's summer in Western Pennsylvania in 1962 that are true. And there are most likely some things that are not true. Where one draws the line is part of what makes the book worth reading. My favorite detail is that the protagonist, probably about 12 years old, learns to type so he can help an older lady with severe hand issues write obituaries for the people in the town who die.
