First Line: A Woman's Battles and Transformations

I enjoyed this short book which is somewhere between a novel and a memoir about the author's relationship with his family, especially his father. It does give a picture of how the author grew up in a working class household with an alcoholic father and a mother with too many children and managed to become a highly regarded writer.

I would not say that I have a new year's resolution, but I have been trying to read and complete a book everyday lately. Often it is a short book or a comic book. But I do have a feeling of reading accomplishment lately.
