Recent Watching: Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia

 

Last night I finished the first part of Olympia: Festival of Nations.

Two thoughts:

1. The overture is rather erotic in its presentation of athletes, many of them naked. Perhaps even homoerotic.
2. After watching for an event or two, the experience of watching the picture seems not so different than other documentaries about the Olympic games. I watch to see who won and the drama of the race or the throw.
