Brown Oak Drawing and Junk Journal Week 44
Yesterday I heard a repeat of This American Life which included Shalom Auslander reading a section from his book Foreskin's Lament:
Shalom Auslander reads his true story, "The Blessing Bee." It's about the time when, as a third-grader at an Orthodox Jewish school, Shalom saw his chance to both make his mom proud, and push his drunken father out of the picture. Part of his scheme involved winning the school's bee on the complicated Hebrew blessings you say before eating certain foods. The other part of the scheme: Sinning.
Most of my reading this past week has been graphic novels. If you haven't read anything by Chesca Hause, consider Parenting Is Weird:
Combining the calamities of parenting with the chaotic cuteness of kittens, Litterbox Tails from the Litterbox presents the family foibles we can all relate to. A hilariously honest comic collection that explores all things parenting, from stepping out of the hospital for the first time to losing a kid in the grocery store, except everyone is cats.
Most of my screen time this week has been movies on Netflix. There are many great ones available; I thoroughly enjoyed all of the pictures I saw.
What about you? What did you do this past week. I would love to read about your activities in the comments.
