Today’s ICAD Haiku: Ellipse

In high school, I took a one semester astronomy class where we graphed the position of the planet Mars each night. For a few nights of the year, the planet moves backwards an artifact due to the fact that the planetary orbits are an ellipse, not a circle. The instructor was a nice enough guy, but he spoke in this quiet voice which, when combined with class sessions in a darkened planetarium, was quite the soporific.
