Current Reading: Remember the Ramrods

Today, I started reading David Bellavia's book Remember the Ramrods: An army brotherhood in war and peace. I did not realize when I started reading the book today that it was veteran's day, but, I suppose that is a good coincidence. My favorite line of the book so far, probably based on knowing David's family and briefly meeting his late father is:

Both cops were in need of an endodontist when all was said and done.

Somehow this line which correctly identifies which dental specialist someone would need to see after a brutal beatdown, reminds me of a line used in his earlier book House to House, which I might have slightly wrong, that Bellavia had going through his mind in the heat of the battle of Fallujah.

Drop the Chalupa!

I am now thirteen percent of the way into Remember the Ramrods and far enough along to say I am glad that I decided to read it.
