In Colm Toibin's The Magician, the Thomas Mann character has the following thought about Switzerland:
Its citizens, Thomas believed, spent most of their time keeping themselves clean. They did this with such zeal that their rage for hygiene spread to their lakes and mountains, their railway carriages and hotel rooms, their chocolate and their cheese, and indeed their banknotes (kindle location 6392-6394).
