Recent Watching: A Colt Is My Passport

A couple days ago I watched A Colt Is My Passport, one of the great Japanese noir movies.

Patton Oswalt has a great interview in the Criterion Adventures in Moviegoing series about this picture. He says:

A Colt Is My Passport is a meat and potatoes action flick -- A hitman betrayed. But it's done with so much brooding style and they're so many beautiful images in this film. ... [On lead actor Joe Shishido] There's a Ramones quality, where it's the same three chords, but he would do these slight variations on them where they're entertaining every time. ... I'm just picking this film out of sheer non-stop entertainment value. Let's go. Here it is. Let's do it!
