Recent Watching: Dopesick

I have now watched the first three episodes of the Hulu original show Dopesick, and I am glad I did. I have read Patrick Radden Keefe's book and Sam Quinones Dreamland, although I have not read the source book for this show. But I think that television, even in this fragmented media world, still has the power to foreground an important social issue for the American people. In this case, the issue is opioids -- specifically OxyContin and how Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family made immense profits while causing enormous damage to so many American people and institutions.

The television landscape is filled with many things worth watching. I would suggest that you consider adding Dopesick to your watch list.
